According to them, skies will be mostly cloudy over western and central regions, with thundery showers that may be locally heavy, particularly along the western and central-western coasts and inland areas.
Snowfall is expected over western and central highlands, reaching elevations of 1,200 to 1,300 meters by late afternoon and descending to lower altitudes during the evening. In the eastern regions, cloud cover will increase from the afternoon, accompanied by locally heavy thunderstorms. Snow is also forecast over the Aurรจs mountains in the evening, starting at elevations of 1,200 to 1,300 meters.
In contrast, southern regions will see generally clear to partly cloudy skies. However, strong winds are expected to generate sandstorms in several areas.
A Level 2 โStrong Windโ alert has been issued for the wilayas of Bรฉchar, Naรขma, El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, MโSila, Ouled Djellal, El MโGhaier and Biskra from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, until at least 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14. Winds from the west to northwest are forecast at 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts reaching or exceeding 90 to 100 km/h, accompanied by significant sand drift.
A separate Level 2 alert has been issued for Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdรจs and Tizi-Ouzou from 3:00 p.m. Friday until 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Winds from the west to southwest will blow at 60 to 70 km/h, with gusts exceeding 80 km/h.
Another Level 2 alert concerns Tlemcen, Aรฏn Tรฉmouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbรจs, Mascara, Relizane, Saรฏda and Tiaret from 12:00 p.m. Friday until 3:00 a.m. Saturday, with westerly winds of 60 to 70 km/h and gusts surpassing 80 km/h.
Temperatures are expected to range between 16ยฐC and 23ยฐC along coastal regions in the morning, 13ยฐC to 21ยฐC inland and across the High Plateaus, and 20ยฐC to 32ยฐC in the Sahara.
Afternoon highs will vary between 14ยฐC and 26ยฐC on the coast, 9ยฐC and 22ยฐC inland, and 24ยฐC to 33ยฐC in southern areas.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to between 12ยฐC and 16ยฐC along the coast, 6ยฐC to 14ยฐC inland and over the High Plateaus, and 14ยฐC to 25ยฐC in the Sahara.
