Dr. Kateb is widely recognized for his analytical depth and extensive experience in the field of political science and international relations. A graduate of the University of Algiers in 1988 with a degree in Political Science, he has built a distinguished career that bridges academia, media, and strategic research. His professional trajectory includes serving as Deputy Director of News at the Algerian Press Service (APS) for eight years, a position through which he contributed to the modernization and credibility of Algeria’s official information output.
Beyond his journalistic experience, Dr. Kateb has also played a central role in higher education. Between 2007 and 2010, he was the Vice Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Tizi Ouzou, where he trained a generation of students in political analysis and global governance. His academic rigor and field expertise led him to join the National Institute for Comprehensive Strategic Studies, a think tank that plays a crucial role in shaping Algeria’s geopolitical and diplomatic vision.
In 2020, Dr. Kateb took the helm of Canal Algérie, the francophone branch of Algerian public television, where he served as Director for one year. His tenure was marked by editorial renewal, a push for balanced coverage, and the reinforcement of Algeria’s narrative abroad through a refined and professional journalistic tone. His analytical interventions on Radio Africa and AL24’s French-language programs have also made him a respected figure among experts and audiences alike, particularly for his sharp insight into African and Mediterranean strategic affairs.
