Zoheir Bouamama to Digital Content Creators: “Uphold Quality, Credibility, and Ethical Values”

Algiers – September 2025 – In an address delivered at the opening of a consultative meeting held in the capital, Minister of Communication Zoheir Bouamama underscored the central role of digital content creators in shaping Algeria’s media landscape and urged them to anchor their work in quality, credibility, and respect for national values.
Speaking alongside the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, Bouamama declared that the world’s profound transformations “compel us to adapt and harness their full potential.” He stressed that digital platforms today are no longer a peripheral force but a decisive tool in shaping public opinion, transmitting knowledge, and strengthening national identity.
“The responsibility that falls on content creators,” Bouamama affirmed, “is to embrace rigorous standards of professionalism and ethical integrity, producing material that aligns with international norms while safeguarding our authentic values.”
A Common National Vision for the Digital Sphere
The minister clarified that the organization of this meeting, attended by officials and experts from multiple sectors, reflects “a shared vision between the two ministries to accompany the digital revolution and bolster all initiatives that elevate Algeria’s standing in the digital sphere while projecting a positive image of the country.”
Bouamama further noted that Algeria recognizes digital transformation as an unavoidable necessity rather than an option, pledging that his ministry will expedite the review of existing regulations and introduce new legal frameworks to better govern this burgeoning sector. In this respect, he announced that priority is being given to the establishment of two long-awaited regulatory authorities: one dedicated to the audiovisual sector and another to the press, both written and electronic.
A Dialogue with Content Creators
The communication minister reaffirmed his commitment to establishing “permanent channels of dialogue and consultation” with digital content creators, to hear their concerns and develop “practical, actionable solutions.” During the session, content creators openly discussed pressing challenges, including the absence of structured professional incubators and the urgent need for reliable, high-quality internet services to sustain their activities.
Training, Inclusion, and Broader Participation
For his part, Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki praised the turnout and eagerness of content creators to engage in this pioneering initiative. He explained that the ministry carefully selected an initial group representing Algeria’s diverse wilayas and creative sectors, with the objective of “listening to their concerns, offering tailored training, and encouraging exchanges of ideas and experiences that will ultimately contribute to a coherent and forward-looking digital strategy.”
Zerrouki also announced plans for a second, larger meeting to be held either by the end of this year or early next year, aimed at expanding the debate to a broader segment of Algeria’s content creation community. Interactive workshops were held during the event, tackling issues of regulation, legal frameworks, and economic models essential to structuring and advancing Algeria’s digital content ecosystem.
