Algiers, Algeria | June 2nd, 2025 — The Algerian Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry has officially announced the signing of an agreement to establish a national company dedicated to the production of veterinary vaccines, in a decisive step toward enhancing Algeria’s pharmaceutical sovereignty and reducing reliance on imports.

This ambitious initiative results from a strategic partnership between the state-owned pharmaceutical giant Saïdal and Madar Holding Group. The joint venture will give rise to a fully integrated bioequivalence center, serving both human and veterinary vaccine development. The center is also set to become a hub of scientific innovation and research, positioning Algeria at the forefront of biotechnological advancement in North Africa.

In his statement to the press, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry emphasized that this project aligns with the broader national strategy aimed at consolidating Algeria’s health sovereignty and fostering local pharmaceutical production. He underscored the importance of building domestic capabilities in sectors of high added value such as biotechnology, applied research, and vaccine manufacturing.

Beyond its scientific scope, the project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for highly qualified professionals, while ensuring Algeria can meet its own vaccine demands without depending on foreign supply chains—particularly in the sensitive domain of veterinary health.
