Algeria’s New Government Holds Strategic Responsibilities to Sustain the National Renaissance, Affirms Economist Abdelkader Slimani in a Statement to Dzair Tube

Algiers – September 2025 – In an exclusive statement to Dzair Tube, the economic expert Abdelkader Slimani outlined the magnitude of the mission entrusted to Algeria’s newly appointed government under Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb. He underscored that Algeria is currently at a pivotal juncture, confronting profound economic, social, developmental, and political challenges. According to Slimani, the cabinet’s foremost responsibility will be to sustain and accelerate the renaissance initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Slimani emphasized that the Algerian citizen will remain at the heart of governmental priorities, noting that the country’s economic trajectory has already achieved remarkable milestones. Growth rates have surpassed 4.5 percent, earning praise from international financial and economic institutions for the robustness of Algeria’s national economy. Moreover, the country has successfully diversified its partnerships and demonstrated its continental leadership by hosting the Intra-African Trade Fair, securing transactions exceeding $48 billion, of which Algeria claimed the lion’s share with contracts worth $23 billion.
The government’s forthcoming action plan, Slimani argued, will align closely with the President’s vision of reinforcing Algeria’s social and economic achievements. This includes the creation of tens of thousands of jobs across multiple sectors, the delivery of two million housing units under various schemes—most notably AADL 03—and the establishment of 20,000 start-ups, facilitated by streamlined bureaucracy and a digitized economy. Algeria will also move to open new markets in Africa and the Arab world, while attracting investments from friendly nations across Asia and the Americas.
Slimani further highlighted major domestic projects, ranging from mining and agriculture to transportation, infrastructure, seawater desalination, and industrialization, all aimed at bolstering self-sufficiency and increasing local integration. He stressed that these efforts must also translate into tangible development across all 58 provinces, ensuring equity and fulfilling the promises President Tebboune made during his provincial visits.
Politically, Slimani noted that Algeria is heading toward a decisive phase, with local and legislative elections scheduled for 2026 and an expected broad dialogue with political parties, civil society, and youth. Such engagement, he asserted, will be critical in consolidating national unity and fortifying Algeria’s internal front against external conspiracies and geopolitical pressures.
He reminded that Algeria has always stood firmly with peoples struggling against colonialism, particularly in supporting the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes, while promoting South-South cooperation. Today, Algeria has emerged as a regional and continental power—an achievement that inevitably attracts external hostility toward its unity and growing influence.
On social welfare, Slimani reaffirmed Algeria’s identity as a social state committed to safeguarding citizens’ purchasing power and protecting vulnerable groups. This, he argued, remains central to the government’s mission.
Concluding, Slimani characterized the new cabinet as a “commando government” tasked with embodying Algeria’s transformative developmental project through to 2030. Its challenge will be not merely to maintain the momentum of economic growth but to translate it into social progress, political stability, and global partnerships befitting Algeria’s stature as a resurgent regional force.
