Algiers Launches Summer 2025 with Ambitious Urban Projects and Youth-Centered Initiatives

Algiers, Algeria | June 23rd, 2025 — Marking the official kickoff of the 2025 summer season in the capital, the Wali of Algiers, Mr. Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, inaugurated on Sunday a series of major infrastructure projects dedicated to leisure, youth services, and urban renewal.

Among the flagship projects unveiled was the Terrace Bounetta in the heart of Algiers-Centre. Overlooking the city’s iconic waterfront, the panoramic site is a key component of the “Blue Plan” under the capital’s strategic vision for sustainable modernization and coastal valorization.

During a field visit to El Kadous Beach in the commune of H’raoua, the Wali reviewed an extensive presentation outlining the public institutions’ summer responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness, safety, and visitor services. He also inspected the El Kadous Youth Camp, which has undergone major renovation to enhance accommodation and recreational facilities for young people during the high season.

As part of the broader cultural and recreational vision, Mr. Rabehi attended a detailed presentation by the Directorate of Youth, Sports, and Leisure, showcasing the summer program for entertainment and community engagement across the capital. He further reviewed initiatives for forest space development and wildfire prevention, underlining the region’s commitment to environmental vigilance.

In Aïn Taya, the Wali inaugurated a newly constructed youth center with a 120-bed capacity. The center was named in honor of the late moudjahid Yousfi Khalil, reflecting the city’s effort to commemorate national heroes while investing in future generations.

This local inauguration followed the official national launch of the 2025 summer season, held on Saturday at Rizzi-Amor Beach in Annaba by the Minister of the Interior, Local Assemblies and Urban Development, Mr. Brahim Merad. He was joined by the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Ms. Houria Meddahi, the Minister of Water Resources, Mr. Taha Derbal, and the Secretary of State for the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib.
