Algiers, Algeria | June 5th, 2025 — In preparation for one of the holiest occasions in the Islamic calendar, the Directorate of Religious Affairs for the province of Algiers has officially announced that the Eid al-Adha prayer will be held at precisely 06:15 AM across all mosques in the capital on the morning of the sacred festival.

This coordinated announcement ensures uniformity and spiritual cohesion throughout the city, allowing worshippers to celebrate the Eid prayer in unity at the designated time. Authorities have urged the faithful to arrive early to facilitate smooth organization and to engage in communal Takbirat, fostering the festive and spiritual ambiance that marks the significance of Eid al-Adha.

In parallel, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments issued a strong and unequivocal reminder that the Friday prayer (Jumu’ah) remains an obligatory act of worship, even when it coincides with Eid al-Adha. The Ministry categorically denounced what it described as “misleading fatwas” circulating on social media platforms, which claim that the performance of Eid prayer excuses believers from attending the Friday prayer.

Labeling such interpretations as baseless and deceptive, the Ministry emphasized that religious duties must be observed in accordance with sound jurisprudence and the consensus of scholars, not on the whims of self-proclaimed digital preachers.

This statement aims to preserve the sanctity of Islamic practices and ensure that religious observance remains grounded in authentic scholarly tradition. The Ministry called on citizens to exercise discernment and to refer only to authorized religious institutions for matters of worship and legal rulings.
