Speaker Boughali Highlights Expanding Economic Momentum in Algeria–South Korea Relations

Algiers – December 2025 – Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), received on Wednesday in Algiers the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, You Ki-Jun, who paid him a farewell visit at the end of his mission in Algeria.
During the meeting, held at the APN headquarters, Boughali underscored the notable evolution of economic relations between Algeria and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized that this upward momentum should not only be consolidated but expanded to encompass new priority sectors, particularly scientific cooperation, parliamentary diplomacy, and cultural exchange. Such diversification, he stressed, would allow both nations to broaden their areas of expertise and reinforce mutually beneficial partnerships, ultimately serving the strategic interests of the two peoples and the two states.
Reflecting on the trajectory of bilateral ties, Boughali highlighted the privileged relationship linking Algeria and South Korea, commending Ambassador You Ki-Jun for his steadfast commitment to strengthening, deepening, and elevating this partnership throughout his tenure in Algiers. He drew particular attention to the growing parliamentary cooperation between the APN and the Korean National Assembly, illustrated by reciprocal visits involving the presidents of both legislatures and the active engagement of friendship groups on both sides.
For his part, Ambassador You Ki-Jun expressed deep gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him during his mission, noting the positive dynamic that continues to shape Algeria–South Korea relations. He reaffirmed the importance of sustaining efforts to promote cooperation across multiple sectors and levels, describing the bilateral partnership as one with substantial potential and significant room for expansion.
