Bengrina Applauds Algerian-Omani Political Synergy, Endorses Joint Investment Initiatives, and Urges Arab Consensus to Halt Genocide in Gaza
Algiers, Algeria | May 6th, 2025 — In a strongly worded statement issued by its President, Abdelkader Bengrina, the El Binaa al Watani Movement has welcomed the recent state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman to Algeria, describing it as a “historic and fraternal milestone” that deepens the already robust strategic ties between the two nations.
The movement commended the warm reception extended to Sultan Haitham by his brother, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, stating that the official and brotherly atmosphere of the visit reflected the deep-rooted historical bonds and the mutual respect between the two peoples.
Bengrina highlighted that the two-day visit—preceded by President Tebboune’s visit to Muscat in October—marks a renewal of the political will shared by both leaders to elevate bilateral relations to higher levels of cooperation, prosperity, and mutual benefit. He emphasized that the timing and outcomes of the visit underscore an evolving geopolitical partnership rooted in mutual respect, solidarity, and a shared vision for the Arab world.
El Binaa expressed deep appreciation for the commitment demonstrated by both leaders to strategic dialogue and joint coordination in facing pressing regional and international challenges, particularly in the realms of peace, security, and sustainable development.
The movement praised the signing of a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and joint cooperation programs in various sectors, including justice, legal affairs, investment, agriculture, fisheries, the pharmaceutical industry, energy, and mining. Bengrina particularly welcomed the decision to launch new bilateral projects in strategic sectors such as automobile manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and energy, while encouraging exploration of further avenues for cooperation of mutual interest.
Additionally, the statement celebrated the decision to name Oman as the guest of honor at the upcoming 56th Algiers International Fair in June 2025, and Algeria’s reciprocal invitation as guest of honor at the Oman Agricultural, Fisheries, and Food Exhibition scheduled for December 2025.
El Binaa also lauded the strengthening of economic partnership between the two countries, citing as a prime example the $2.4 billion joint investment in ammonia and urea production in Arzew (Oran Province), carried out by Algeria’s Sonatrach and Oman’s Bahwan Group.
Significantly, the movement highlighted the landmark agreement to establish a joint Algerian-Omani investment fund, which will facilitate partnerships in vital sectors including mining, food security, and pharmaceuticals—reflecting a forward-looking and complementary economic vision.
“The Algerian-Omani relationship has become a model of Arab cooperation based on mutual trust, non-interference, and a commitment to collective growth and sovereignty,” the statement read. It noted that the strategic depth of the partnership is seen in the shared desire to build a prosperous political and economic future while adhering to principles of mutual respect and stability.
Beyond the bilateral dimension, El Binaa positioned the Algeria-Oman relationship as a cornerstone of pan-Arab unity and security, especially in light of the escalating crises, internal divisions, and geopolitical tensions gripping the Arab region. The movement described both Algeria and Oman as moderate actors with a proven record in conflict mediation and peace-building. Bengrina asserted that the two states are uniquely positioned to lead reconciliation efforts among Arab and regional actors, advancing values of cooperation, sovereignty, and national integrity.
Touching on the tragic developments in the Middle East, El Binaa stated that Sultan Haitham’s visit to Algeria came at a moment of grave humanitarian concern, as Israel continues its genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip. The movement strongly welcomed the convergence of Algerian and Omani positions on Palestine, particularly their shared condemnation of the scorched-earth policy and ethnic cleansing pursued by the occupying power.
The statement firmly supported Algeria and Oman’s call for urgent action by the UN Security Council, stressing the need for an immediate halt to the genocide in Gaza and the adoption of concrete measures to protect the Palestinian people. El Binaa reiterated its commitment to the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, in line with international legitimacy and UN resolutions.
In closing, Bengrina emphasized that this visit—far beyond ceremonial symbolism—has laid down a comprehensive framework for strategic Arab alignment, economic integration, and diplomatic coordination. “It is a reaffirmation of a shared destiny between two nations committed to dignity, sovereignty, and peace,” he concluded.
