Algiers – In a move aimed at strengthening Algeria’s strategic partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa, Kamel Moula, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), accompanied Dr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, on an official working visit to Maputo, the capital of the Republic of Mozambique, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Upon their arrival, Minister Adjal and his accompanying delegation were accorded a warm and distinguished official reception by senior Mozambican authorities, including the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Mozambique, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, as well as members of the Algerian diplomatic corps, led by His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to Mozambique.
The four-day visit, scheduled from October 14 to 17, forms part of an intensive program of high-level meetings designed to foster bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues of partnership between Algeria and Mozambique. The Algerian delegation includes top officials from the energy sector, along with the chief executive officers of major national corporations such as Sonatrach, Sonelgaz, and Saidal, in addition to senior executives from the Ministry of Energy.
Throughout the visit, the Algerian officials will engage in a series of strategic discussions with their Mozambican counterparts, focusing on energy, hydrocarbons, and industrial development. The agenda also encompasses initiatives to expand economic cooperation, exchange expertise, and identify joint investment opportunities, particularly in the domains of renewable energy, natural gas infrastructure, and pharmaceutical production.
For his part, Kamel Moula’s participation underscores the increasing role of the Algerian private sector in advancing Algeria’s Africa-oriented economic diplomacy, in alignment with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision of consolidating South–South cooperation and promoting mutually beneficial development projects across the continent.
The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and the launch of partnership frameworks that will pave the way for a new phase of Algerian-Mozambican collaboration, reinforcing Algeria’s growing presence in the African economic and energy landscape.
