Nourdine Yazid: Algeria Makes Its Mark at the International Food and Drinks Event in London

Algeria demonstrated a distinguished presence at the “International Food and Drinks Event” in London, United Kingdom, held from March 30 to April 1, 2026. The event brought together over twenty Algerian public and private enterprises, showcasing the nation’s commitment to promoting “Made in Algeria” products across the British and European markets.
Occupying nearly 200 square meters, the national pavilion highlighted the diversity and quality of Algeria’s agro-food sector. Exhibitors presented an extensive range of high-quality products, including items with established international reputations, such as dates and olive oil. Emerging products gaining traction abroad—such as table oils, fruits and vegetables, chocolates, and cheeses—were also prominently featured. Complementing these offerings were honey, mineral and carbonated waters, alongside fresh agricultural produce favored in European markets, notably oranges, apples, tomatoes, and peppers.
This significant participation reflects the notable progress of Algeria’s agro-food industry and aligns with the country’s broader strategy of economic diversification.
During the event, Nourdine Yazid, Ambassador of Algeria to the United Kingdom, visited the pavilion to engage with exhibitors and the delegation overseeing participation, led by Karim Boukadoum, Director General of the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports (SAFEX). The delegation included Tarek Boulmerka, President of the National Association of Algerian Exporters (ANEXAL), Chakib Kouidri, Director General of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and officials from the Council for Algerian Economic Renewal.
The ambassador commended the growing interest in participating in one of the world’s premier gatherings dedicated to the agro-food industry, which annually convenes investors, producers, and distributors. He emphasized that, in light of improvements in national production and quality standards, Algeria must assert itself as a credible, reliable, and influential actor in international markets. Furthermore, he underscored the event’s strategic importance for establishing new partnerships, opening direct export channels, and accessing the British market.
Yazid provided guidance to exhibitors regarding the specific demands of the British economy and identified high-potential product segments. He reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to supporting Algerian operators, facilitating connections with potential partners, and strengthening non-hydrocarbon exports, in accordance with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
From the moment the pavilion opened, it attracted widespread attention. Visitors and professionals alike lauded the quality and flavors of the products, confirming Algeria’s growing influence and reputation in the international agro-food sector.
