Algiers – December 2025 – Petro Baraka, a leading Algerian company specializing in the production and distribution of industrial lubricants, engine oils, and related products, is showcasing its latest innovations at the 33rd edition of the Algerian Production Fair, held at the Palais des Expositions – Pins Maritimes under the banner “Algeria Builds Its Future.”
In an exclusive statement to Dzair Tube, Abdelrazak El Mabouda, Regional Media Officer at Petro Baraka, highlighted the company’s significant progress since late 2019. “We began marketing our products at the end of 2019, starting with mineral oils and cooling fluids. Today, we are the first Algerian company to produce fully synthetic oils, such as 0W-20 and 0W-30, which were previously imported. This achievement has notably reduced import costs and contributed to balancing the trade deficit,” El Mabouda stated.
He further emphasized Petro Baraka’s recognition on the international stage, revealing that the company recently won the Best African Exhibitor award at the Düsseldorf Fair in Germany. The company has also signed a strategic agreement with a German supplier and expanded its portfolio to include marine lubricants, now presented at the current fair, while actively developing aviation oils.
El Mabouda noted that previous participation in African trade fairs opened doors to new partnerships, yet Petro Baraka remains committed to domestic self-sufficiency before engaging in exports. “Following the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, we will achieve full national self-reliance before considering export opportunities, which could commence in the first half of 2026,” he concluded.
Sneak Peek: Petro Baraka’s Journey from Biskra to Global Recognition
In a milestone that reshapes Algeria’s industrial narrative, Petro Baraka — born in Biskra with an ambitious vision of industrial sovereignty — has confidently stepped into Europe’s most demanding markets, returning triumphantly with the “Best African Product” award at the European Exhibition for Oils and Alternative Energies in Düsseldorf. This accolade is not merely symbolic; it demonstrates that an Algerian industrial enterprise, built from scratch, can meet and surpass the rigorous technical and quality standards of the world’s most competitive markets.
Petro Baraka’s measured rise reflects a strategic, phased industrial evolution: founded in 1995 as a storage and distribution operator for fuels and gasoline, expanded in 2014 to cover full petroleum product logistics, entered LPG distribution in 2017, and launched industrial production in 2020. By 2022, the company had reached full-scale industrialization, producing 50 grades of engine and automotive oils with an annual nominal capacity of 100,000 tonnes — effectively fulfilling nearly all domestic lubricant demand.
This success is built on precision, quality, and international credibility. Petro Baraka’s products have been validated by top automakers including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW, and Porsche, confirming compliance with stringent OEM specifications, while a range of international quality certifications underscores the company’s technical maturity. The portfolio spans engine oils, heavy-duty lubricants, gear and transmission oils, brake and power-steering fluids, technical fluids, and specialty maintenance products. Diversification extends into plastics, chemicals, rubber, glass, and maintenance products, reinforced by strategic local partnerships such as with Motor 9.
The strategic impact is profound: import substitution, preservation of foreign exchange, development of skilled employment, creation of a robust local value chain, and a credible springboard for European and regional export markets. Petro Baraka’s journey is a testament to Algeria’s industrial sovereignty, proving that homegrown expertise can thrive under the strictest global standards while fostering national pride and economic resilience.
