President Tebboune Showcases Algeria’s Military Industry Strength at Algiers International Fair

Algiers, Algeria | June 23rd, 2025 — President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, placed Algeria’s military-industrial prowess in the spotlight during a high-profile visit to the Ministry of National Defense pavilion at the 56th Algiers International Fair (FIA), held at the Palace of Expositions, SAFEX, in Pins Maritimes. His presence underscored the state’s firm commitment to industrial sovereignty, strategic autonomy, and defense modernization.

Accompanied by Army General Saïd Chengriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), President Tebboune was briefed extensively on the technological advances and production capabilities spearheaded by Algeria’s defense institutions.

The visit began at the stand of the ANP’s Mechanical Construction Establishment in Khenchela, a flagship facility that reflects the growing ability of Algeria to produce military-grade hardware domestically. President Tebboune took a special interest in the quality, diversification, and self-sufficiency demonstrated by these units.

He then proceeded to the pavilion of the Ministry’s Mechanical Industries Promotion Complex, a cornerstone of defense-oriented industrial development, showcasing Algeria’s evolving capacities in armored vehicle manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and localized innovation.

The President’s tour also included the Naval Forces Command stand, where he received an in-depth presentation on Algeria’s maritime defense capabilities, including the country’s capacity for shipbuilding, naval surveillance, and coastal security.

In a further highlight, President Tebboune visited the Central Enterprise for Renewal of Signaling Equipment of the First Military Region, emphasizing the strategic importance of advanced communications systems and real-time information technologies for both military and civil infrastructure.

The Head of State concluded his defense-focused tour at the pavilions of the National Office of Explosive Materials and the National Institute of Cartography and Remote Sensing. There, he reviewed recent operational achievements and future objectives in geospatial intelligence, satellite mapping, and secure material production.

This official engagement comes as part of Algeria’s broader ambition to assert its technological independence, enhance national defense capacity, and strengthen its regional security role. The showcased advancements illustrate the integrated efforts of the Algerian state to modernize its military industry while diversifying its economic base.
