SEAAL Launches Robust Awareness Campaign to Conserve Water During Eid Al-Adha

Algiers, Algeria | June 4th, 2025 — In anticipation of the increased water consumption typically associated with Eid Al-Adha, the Water and Sanitation Company of Algiers (SEAAL) has launched a comprehensive awareness campaign to encourage responsible water usage. The initiative, notable for its inclusivity and societal outreach, brings together a diverse coalition of respected figures from Algeria’s religious, cultural, and digital spheres.

Recognizing the vital importance of water conservation during the religious festivities, SEAAL strategically partnered with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments, as well as the Religious Affairs Directorates of Algiers and Tipaza. Their collaboration reflects a unified national approach to fostering sustainable water habits among citizens.

The campaign features a series of awareness videos disseminated across social media and traditional media platforms. Among the notable participants lending their voices and credibility to the initiative are:

• Mabrouk Zeid El Kheir, President of the High Islamic Council

• Imad Ben Amer, Director of Mosque Spaces at the Great Mosque of Algiers

• Mohamed Tikkarouchine, Imam of Nour Al-Islam Mosque in Tipaza

• Mustapha Zebdi, President of the Algerian Organization for Consumer Protection

• “El Daqs”, a well-known social media influencer

• Othmane Bendaoud, a revered Algerian artist

These respected contributors shared positive behavioral practices that should be adopted during Eid, including the judicious use of water during ritual slaughter and cleaning, and the safe and hygienic disposal of animal waste in designated areas to prevent clogging and pollution in sanitation networks.

In their messages, the participants emphasized that responsible consumption is not only a civic duty but a moral and religious imperative—especially during Eid, when excess and negligence can undermine community welfare. SEAAL’s campaign also underscores the ethical dimension of water use, reminding citizens that water is a precious national asset that must be preserved for future generations.

Further, SEAAL extended heartfelt Eid Al-Adha greetings to the Algerian people, combining festivity with civic responsibility in a campaign that seeks to make environmental stewardship a central tenet of religious celebration.
