Securing Potable Water Supply: Saïd Sayoud Issues Urgent Directives in Blida

Algiers – September 2025 – In a move underscoring the government’s determination to guarantee citizens’ access to basic necessities, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, conducted on Thursday an extensive inspection visit to several critical projects in the wilaya of Blida.
During this field mission, Sayoud, accompanied by Minister of Water Resources Taha Derbal, delivered firm instructions to the local authorities, urging them to implement immediate and concrete measures aimed at ensuring a regular and sustainable supply of drinking water to the population. His directives came in response to a comprehensive briefing presented by the wali of Blida, which shed light on the current challenges in potable water distribution across the region.
The ministerial delegation placed particular emphasis on projects designed to reinforce the resilience of the province’s water infrastructure. Among these, the large-scale initiative to supply Blida from the Fouka 2 seawater desalination plant in neighboring Tipaza stood out as a strategic cornerstone for long-term water security. The officials also reviewed ongoing works related to the drilling of new wells and the rehabilitation of existing ones, underscoring the urgent need to accelerate their completion to alleviate current constraints.
