Sifi Ghrieb: “Our Mission is to Serve the Citizen on the Ground”

Algiers – September 2025 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb delivered a resolute message on Monday during his working visit to Jijel, underscoring that the central mission of his government is to serve the citizen directly, guided by the instructions of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and anchored in what he termed the “language of figures.”
“The mission of the current Government is to serve the people, in line with the directives of the President of the Republic,” Ghrieb declared to the press at the conclusion of his visit, making it clear that tangible action and measurable progress will be the government’s compass.
A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the “KOTAMA AGRI FOOD” complex, a project emblematic not only of Algeria’s industrial revival but also of the state’s uncompromising fight against corruption. Ghrieb revealed that when the project was reclaimed, its completion rate did not exceed 20%, while more than 60% of its financial transfers had already been made—a glaring testament to the scale of embezzlement. Today, however, it stands as a monument to integrity and perseverance, completed by Algerian cadres educated in Algerian schools, who managed to overcome the project’s intricate technical and technological challenges.
The Prime Minister further cited the example of a local start-up, which successfully executed a mission for six million dinars, whereas a foreign consultancy had demanded one million dollars for the same task. This, he stressed, reflects the state’s regained trust in national competencies and highlights the immense economic savings achieved by relying on Algerian expertise.
Ghrieb also turned his attention to Algeria’s maritime ambitions. Inspecting the second phase of the container terminal at the Port of Djen Djen, he called for the accelerated recovery of available spaces dedicated to cement exports, with the allocation of 20 hectares for investors to construct storage silos. This initiative, he explained, directly follows the President’s vision of transforming the port into a hub specialized in cement exports, positioning the product as a strategic national asset while ensuring priority is granted to Algerian enterprises in the export process.
“Those who make promises must honor them. The orientations and commitments of the President of the Republic are today materializing, thanks to Algerian cadres and the recovery of looted projects as part of the battle against corruption,” Ghrieb emphasized.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister hailed the remarkable success of the 2025 Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), which he described as “an event that has opened the gates of Africa to Algeria’s economy.” This, he affirmed, represents not just a diplomatic victory but a concrete expansion of Algeria’s economic reach on the continent.
