Successful Counterterrorism Operation on Algeria-Tunisia Border: 3 Terrorists Eliminated

ALGIERS- In a collaborative effort, the Tunisian Ministry of Interior has reported the successful elimination of three terrorists near the borders with Algeria. The operation, conducted by the Tunisian National Guard and the military in the mountainous region of Kasserine, adjacent to Algeria, resulted in the death of the three terrorists.

During the operation, one soldier sustained injuries from terrorist gunfire, as revealed by the spokesperson for the National Guard, Houssem Eddine El Jabali. He disclosed to Agence France Presse that the operation received support from “units of the air force.”

In addition to neutralizing the threat, the military units successfully seized explosives, ammunition, and weapons, enhancing the overall security situation in the region.

It is noteworthy that Algeria and Tunisia had previously agreed to strengthen “coordination, cooperation, and synergy of efforts to fortify both countries and ensure security and stability in the region, particularly in combating terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration.”

Algeria advocated for an intensified “cooperation between police and surveillance services at border crossings and enhancing the information exchange process regarding the movement of people, goods, and funds to bolster the security of both countries without compromising the fluidity of movements.”
