Who Writes the Western Sahara Script: Rabat or the Zionist Entity?
✍️ BY: Dr. Hana Saada
Algiers – November 2025 – Following the latest UN Security Council resolution on Western Sahara, attention in Rabat was not drawn by the official speeches, but rather by the faces seated in the front rows during the “unofficial celebrations” that followed. Those faces alone raised the most unsettling question: Who truly writes the Western Sahara script today?
Does Rabat still hold the strings of the file, or has the invisible hand of the Zionist entity begun to outline the next chapter of Africa’s longest-standing decolonization conflict?
The presence of André Azoulay, the Jewish advisor to King Mohammed VI, was anything but symbolic. A central architect of Moroccan-Zionist rapprochement since the 1990s, Azoulay today embodies a deeper and more strategic alliance — one that surpasses mere normalization to penetrate the very core of Morocco’s foreign policy.
In this light, Morocco’s celebration of the UN resolution appeared to be a double one: an illusory triumph and a concealed satisfaction at the international echo of its long-promoted “autonomy plan.” Yet behind the optics lies a far more calculated agenda. The Moroccan-Zionist alliance is no longer limited to security and intelligence cooperation — it now extends to shaping sensitive political dossiers, chief among them the Western Sahara issue.
From the “Deal of the Century” to the “Autonomy Plan,” parallels abound. Analysts note striking similarities between Rabat’s autonomy proposal and the Zionists’ logic in managing occupied territories — both built on the illusion of peace while sidestepping the core principle of self-determination. Where the Zionist entity once promised “peace for prosperity,” Rabat now markets “autonomy for stability,” concealing beneath both slogans a denial of fundamental rights.
This resemblance is no coincidence. Since the 2020 Abraham Accords — when Morocco normalized ties with the Zionist entity in exchange for the Trump administration’s recognition of its alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara — the Zionist influence has seeped deeper into the Maghreb. The move was widely described as a “Maghrebi edition of the Deal of the Century,” binding Morocco’s colonial ambitions to Zionist geopolitical designs.
Though the Zionist entity avoids explicit statements on Western Sahara, its backstage maneuvering is evident. Intelligence and diplomatic coordination between Rabat and the Zionists now includes the crafting of international narratives and digital diplomacy strategies aimed at reshaping global perception. With close ties to Washington’s lobbying circuits, the Zionists’ shadow influence on Morocco’s UN discourse has grown undeniable. The question now lingers: Was the recent UN text truly a Moroccan initiative — or a Zionist blueprint cloaked in Moroccan colors?
Symbols often speak louder than official communiqués. The presence of certain figures and the timing of the celebration — coinciding with Algeria’s sacred date of November 1, the anniversary of the outbreak of its liberation war — lend the episode a powerful symbolism. It hints at a reconfiguration of alliances where the Zionist entity quietly redraws the strategic map of North Africa, seeking to erode the traditional African consensus that supports the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
Algeria, by contrast, remains unwavering — defending, without ambiguity or compromise, the Sahrawi people’s legitimate right to decide their destiny in line with international legality. To Algiers, the latest developments are not diplomatic victories but dangerous attempts to legitimize a political fabrication meant to dissolve the cause through gradual normalization of occupation.
The Moroccan-Zionist convergence, though unspoken, has become unmistakable. From military cooperation to political coordination, from covert lobbying to overt symbolism, the partnership reveals a new regional order built not on principles but on opportunistic alliances.
Western Sahara has thus become a mirror reflecting these shifting power dynamics — no longer merely a decolonization dispute but a battlefield between two visions for the region’s future: one grounded in justice, sovereignty, and the will of the people; and another dictated by the hidden chambers of geopolitical manipulation, where deals are struck to stifle nations and silence their rightful aspirations.
