Air Algérie Honors Its Diaspora with the Naming of Its Fourth A330neo Aircraft

In a gesture imbued with symbolic resonance and institutional recognition, Air Algérie has formally introduced its fourth Airbus A330-900neo into service, designating it with the name “Djalia” — a direct homage to the Algerian diaspora. The aircraft, registered 7T-VJF and recently received at Algiers International Airport, reflects a deliberate acknowledgment of the enduring bond between the national carrier and Algerians residing abroad.
The naming decision, as articulated in the company’s official communication, carries a clear message of appreciation. By attributing the name “Diaspora” to this latest addition, Air Algérie signals a form of institutional gratitude toward a community that constitutes one of its most loyal and significant passenger bases. The gesture underscores a recognition that extends beyond commercial considerations, situating the diaspora within the symbolic narrative of the airline’s identity and outreach.
The introduction of this aircraft also forms part of a broader fleet expansion and modernization strategy. With this delivery, Air Algérie’s fleet now comprises 58 aircraft, complemented by an additional 15 planes operated by its subsidiary dedicated to domestic routes. This expansion reflects an ongoing effort to enhance operational capacity and align with evolving demands in both international and national air transport.
Looking ahead, Air Algérie continues to pursue an ambitious acquisition program, with orders placed for 44 new aircraft of various types. These include additional Airbus A330-900neo units, Boeing 737 MAX models, and ATR 72-600 aircraft, reflecting a structured approach to fleet diversification and renewal.
