ALGIERS – Political parties competing in Algeria’s legislative elections scheduled for 2 July intensified, on the 11th day of the campaign, their calls for strong voter turnout, framing participation as essential to consolidating development gains, reinforcing institutional stability, and strengthening local governance.

In Batna, Mohamed Daoui, president of El Karama Party, urged citizens—particularly young voters—to participate strongly in the elections, describing the vote as a mechanism to anchor democratic practice and support development efforts.

In Oum El Bouaghi, Youcef Aouchiche, First National Secretary of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), called on voters to support his party’s candidates, stressing their commitment to defending citizens’ interests and representing their concerns within the People’s National Assembly.

In Tlemcen, Fatah Boutbig, president of  El Moustakbal Front, described the 2 July legislative elections as a “major national appointment” shaping Algeria’s future and strengthening institutional resilience, arguing that higher turnout would enhance parliamentary representativeness.

In Mascara, campaign activities continued to focus on youth outreach, with candidates holding local meetings across several municipalities. Discussions centred on employment opportunities, local development, and investment, reflecting the strategic importance of youth engagement in political and socio-economic development.

From Khenchela, Abdelali Hassani Cherif, president of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), said the elections represent an opportunity to rebuild trust between citizens and state institutions, presenting his party’s programme as centred on balanced regional development and national consolidation.

In Algiers, Louisa Hanoune, Secretary General of the Workers’ Party (PT), prioritised direct engagement with citizens during a local meeting in Sidi Moussa, reaffirming her party’s commitment to conveying public concerns to parliament if elected.

In Tlemcen, Tahar Benbaibèche of  El Fadjr El Djadid ‘the New Dawn’ Party called for mass participation in the elections, stressing the need for a parliament that reflects societal expectations, with particular emphasis on youth concerns and sustainable development priorities.

Fatma-Zohra Zerouati, leader of Tajamou Amel El Djazaïr (TAJ), highlighted the importance of preserving social stability for younger generations, while balancing natural resource management, job creation, and sustainable development, describing the elections as a step toward strengthening citizen participation in national development.

In Mila, Monder Bouden, Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), described the elections as a “pillar” of institutional stability and continuity, stressing their role in ensuring state resilience.

In Tizi Ouzou, Atmane Mazouz, president of the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD), also called for high voter turnout, stating that his party’s proposals align with societal aspirations.

From Biskra, Mohamed Dhouibi, Secretary General of the Ennahda Movement, said his party’s programme is based on strengthening local development and supporting national economic construction, arguing that reinforcing elected institutions remains central to broader development objectives.

Across the campaign, party leaders converged on a shared message: encouraging strong voter participation as both a democratic requirement and a mechanism to reinforce institutional legitimacy ahead of the 2 July vote.
