Turkey Expands Visa Exemption For Algerians Under 15 And Over 50 For Short Tourist Stays
BY Dr. Hana Saada
ANKARA – Turkey has introduced revised entry conditions for Algerian nationals, expanding visa exemptions for certain age categories under a new presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on 20 June.
Under the new measures, Algerian citizens aged under 15 and over 50 will no longer require a visa for tourist visits or transit through Turkey, provided their stay does not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period.
The previous regulation applied visa-free access to Algerians under 15 and over 65, meaning the new decision effectively lowers the upper age threshold for exemption.
The policy is set out in Presidential Decree No. 11456, published in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete), and forms part of Turkey’s updated entry framework for select foreign nationals.
Turkey remains a popular summer destination for Algerian travellers, alongside Tunisia, with demand typically increasing during the holiday season.
