Algeria’s Water Minister Lounes Bouzegza Visits Saida to Review Water-Supply Projects and Strengthen Water Security
The minister’s field visit focused on assessing water infrastructure, monitoring development projects and advancing measures to secure and improve drinking-water supplies across Saida province.

SAIDA, Algeria — Water Minister Lounes Bouzegza arrived in Saida on Friday for a working and inspection visit focused on the state of the province’s water sector and the progress of development projects, according to the source.
Bouzegza was received by Saida Governor Amoumene Mermouri, alongside the president of the provincial People’s Assembly, members of the security committee, local authorities, members of both chambers of Parliament, civil-society representatives, the Republic’s Mediator, the Higher Council for Youth and sector officials.
The visit forms part of the minister’s field inspections across Algeria, aimed at assessing public water services on the ground, monitoring the implementation of development projects and placing completed facilities into operation, with a view to strengthening water security and ensuring more reliable supplies.
The programme includes a presentation on the state of the water sector in Saida, followed by inspections of facilities and projects related to drinking-water supply and water treatment.
The minister is also scheduled to inaugurate and commission a number of water projects, while launching new operations designed to reinforce and secure drinking-water supplies for several areas of the province.
The visit comes as authorities continue to prioritise the development of water infrastructure and the reliability of public supply, with field monitoring intended to accelerate the delivery and operationalisation of projects serving local communities.
