ALGIERS – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defence, chaired a Cabinet meeting on Sunday, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
The meeting was held in the presence of members of the government and was dedicated to a series of presentations covering key national priorities, including the national digital services portal “Dzair Digital Services” and preparations for its entry into service.
The Cabinet also reviewed measures related to wildfire prevention and response capabilities ahead of the summer season, as well as broader coordination mechanisms aimed at reducing the risks associated with forest fires.
In the transport and infrastructure sector, discussions focused on the financing of the first section of the planned railway line linking Laghouat, Ghardaïa, and El Meniaa, a strategic project intended to strengthen regional connectivity and support economic development in southern Algeria.
The meeting also examined the creation of a scientific council representing the national community established abroad, alongside the establishment of a national archaeological agency, both aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks in research, heritage protection, and diaspora engagement.
According to the Presidency, the session forms part of ongoing efforts to advance structural reforms, improve public service delivery, and accelerate the implementation of strategic national projects across multiple sectors.
