ALGIERS — The President of the Sahrawi National Council, Bachir Mustapha Sayed, has extended his congratulations to Khalida Boufedeche following her election as President of Algeria’s People’s National Assembly (APN), reaffirming the enduring political, parliamentary and historical ties between the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Algeria.

In a congratulatory message addressed to Boufedeche, Sayed conveyed his warmest wishes on behalf of both himself and the members of the Sahrawi National Council, expressing confidence in her ability to successfully discharge the responsibilities entrusted to her as head of Algeria’s lower house of parliament.

The message also underscored the deep-rooted fraternal relations linking the Algerian and Sahrawi peoples, describing the partnership between the two legislative institutions as one founded upon shared history, common principles and a common destiny.

Sayed highlighted the longstanding cooperation and solidarity developed between the Sahrawi National Council and Algeria’s People’s National Assembly, stressing the importance of preserving and further strengthening parliamentary coordination between the two institutions.

The Sahrawi parliamentary leader further paid tribute to Algeria’s longstanding position in support of the Sahrawi people’s legitimate right to freedom, self-determination and independence, reaffirming appreciation for Algiers’ consistent diplomatic and political backing.

Concluding his message, Sayed called for expanding parliamentary cooperation and institutional coordination between the two legislative bodies, advocating broader joint parliamentary initiatives aimed at advancing the shared interests of the Algerian and Sahrawi peoples.

The exchange comes shortly after Khalida Boufedeche’s election as Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, a development that has prompted congratulatory messages from several domestic and international parliamentary figures, reflecting Algeria’s active parliamentary engagement with regional partners and longstanding allies.
