Somalia Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with Algeria Through Presidential Message

Algiers — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received on Wednesday Ali Yusuf Hosh, the Somali Minister of Interior and Federal Affairs, who delivered a letter from the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State in charge of the General Inspectorate of State Services and Local Authorities Brahim Merad, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies and Transport Saïd Sayoud, and presidential adviser in charge of diplomatic affairs Amar Abba, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
In a statement to the press, Hosh said he delivered a letter from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressing gratitude and appreciation for Algeria’s role in supporting just African and Arab causes.
He described Algeria as a consistent supporter of Somalia throughout different stages of its history and a strategic partner bound by relations of fraternity, solidarity and shared destiny.
He added that bilateral relations are based on mutual respect and sincere cooperation, noting Somalia’s commitment to further strengthening and expanding cooperation in line with the interests of both peoples and broader African and Arab unity.
Hosh also expressed appreciation for Algeria’s scholarships to Somali students, describing them as an investment in human development and cultural and scientific ties.
He further highlighted the importance of the reopening of the Algerian embassy in Mogadishu as a significant step reflecting the depth of bilateral relations and opening broader prospects for cooperation in political, security, economic, social and educational fields.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening coordination in security and counter-terrorism efforts to support regional stability and development.
