Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, has issued a sharply worded condemnation of the Zionist army following the circulation of a video showing the mistreatment of Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank.
Writing on X, Ms Albanese said she had “seen enough” to conclude that the Zionist army was “the most depraved”, sharing footage she described as “horrific”.
In a subsequent post, she said the video appeared to show Zionist soldiers assaulting a Palestinian child during a raid on the village of Al-Mughayyir, near Ramallah.
The footage depicts soldiers restraining children, while another appears to push and pull a boy, estimated to be around nine years old.
Palestinian activists said the incident took place during a raid on the village on Saturday, followed by a siege on Sunday, coinciding with settler attacks and ensuing clashes.
Such incidents, activists say, reflect a broader pattern in which Palestinian minors are exposed to violence and rights violations during military operations in the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestinian sources, around 360 children are currently held in detention under harsh conditions comparable to those of adult prisoners.
Zionist forces conduct frequent raids across West Bank towns and villages, involving arrests, property damage and confrontations with civilians.
Since October 2023, Palestinian officials report a sharp escalation in violence involving both settlers and Zionist forces, with more than 1,100 Palestinians martyred, nearly 12,000 injured and tens of thousands detained.
