By Dr. Hana Saada
On Sunday, Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering commitment to African common action and to the principles of unity, development and continental integration.
In a statement published on his official account on the occasion of Africa Day, celebrated annually on 25 May, Boughali paid tribute to the founding fathers of the African unity project, stressing their belief in the continent’s capacity to shape its own destiny.
He noted that Algeria, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, remains firmly committed to this legacy and to strengthening collective African action.
Boughali said this symbolic date offers an opportunity to recall the sacrifices made in the struggle for African liberation and sovereignty, and to reaffirm the importance of continued efforts toward shared development.
He further stressed that Algeria continues to play an active role within the African space by supporting coordinated initiatives and reinforcing solidarity and cooperation mechanisms among African states.
According to him, Algeria’s approach aligns with the broader continental drive toward integration, aimed at building a united and resilient Africa capable of addressing economic, political and security challenges.
In conclusion, the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly reiterated Algeria’s historic commitment to Africa and its support for all initiatives promoting collective action for sustainable and shared development.
