Arab and Muslim Foreign Ministers Condemn Somaliland Move to Open So-Called Embassy in Occupied East Al-Quds
By Dr. Hana Saada
Foreign ministers of Arab and Muslim countries, including Algeria, on Sunday issued a statement condemning the move by the self-declared “Somaliland” authorities to open a so-called diplomatic representation in occupied East Al-Quds.
In a joint communiqué, the ministers expressed strong rejection of the decision, considering it a violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, and an attempt affecting the legal status of the city.
They reaffirmed that East Al-Quds is occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, stressing that any unilateral measures aimed at changing its legal or historical status have no legal effect under international law.
The ministers also reiterated their support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, rejecting any actions that could undermine its national unity or internationally recognized borders.
