Algeria Issues Commemorative Stamp Marking National Team’s Qualification for FIFA World Cup 2026

Algeria has issued a commemorative postage stamp celebrating the national football team’s participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026, in a symbolic tribute to one of the country’s most significant recent sporting achievements.
The official cancellation ceremony was jointly presided over by Algerian Football Federation (FAF) President Walid Sadi and Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki on June 3, according to a statement published by the federation.
The stamp commemorates Algeria’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and pays tribute to the players, coaching staff, officials and all those who contributed to securing the country’s place at the global tournament.
Institutional officials and representatives of Algeria’s sporting community attended the ceremony, which was held in a celebratory atmosphere reflecting national pride in the achievement.
According to organisers, the initiative is intended to preserve the memory of a landmark moment in Algerian football history and to commemorate the national team’s return to the world’s most prestigious football competition.
The issuance also reflects official support for sport as a driver of social cohesion, international visibility and the promotion of excellence.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Algeria is scheduled to compete in Group J alongside defending champions Argentina, Austria and Jordan as the Greens seek to make a notable impact in the first World Cup expanded to 48 teams.
