Algiers — Algeria’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, announced on Tuesday that initial university registration for students who successfully passed the 2026 Baccalaureate examination will officially begin on 15 July, marking the start of the admission process for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Speaking during a press conference at the ministry’s headquarters, Baddari said the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research would also publish the full timetable and procedures governing university orientation and enrolment to assist newly admitted students in preparing for the upcoming academic year.

The minister made the announcement while presenting updates to the 2026 University Orientation and Registration Guide, which outlines admission procedures, programme selection and registration requirements for new baccalaureate holders.

At the same time, Algeria’s universities have begun implementing the academic calendar for the 2026–2027 university year, coinciding with the conclusion of the current academic year, which is scheduled to end on Thursday.

Baddari also revealed that the ministry will announce new academic programmes and specialisations later this week for students admitted through the 2026 Baccalaureate.

According to the minister, the introduction of new programmes forms part of the government’s broader strategy to modernise higher education, diversify academic offerings and strengthen alignment between university training and the evolving needs of the national labour market.
