Algeria, Turkey Sign Economic Agreements As Trade Target Reaches $10bn Focus

Algeria and Turkey signed several economic agreements Thursday during the Algerian-Turkish Business Forum in Ankara, as both countries moved to deepen trade and investment cooperation under a broader strategic partnership framework.

The forum, attended by government officials, business leaders and investment agency representatives from both countries, highlighted what participants described as a shared commitment to elevating bilateral economic relations into an integrated strategic partnership.

The meetings were co-chaired by Algeria’s Minister of External Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig and Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, who reaffirmed a joint objective of raising bilateral trade to $10bn.

Both ministers also stressed the importance of expanding investment flows and advancing discussions on a bilateral preferential trade agreement, alongside broader cooperation in renewable energy, banking, agriculture and infrastructure.

The forum takes place during President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to Turkey, where he is co-chairing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the inaugural session of the Algerian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

The agreements come amid rapidly expanding Algerian-Turkish economic ties, with Ankara emerging as one of Algeria’s leading non-European trade and investment partners across industry, manufacturing, logistics and energy-linked sectors.
