DGSN Marks 81st Anniversary Of 8 May 1945 Massacres With Public Information Days In Sétif
BY Dr. Hana Saada
Algeria’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) opened Wednesday in Sétif a series of public information days marking the 81st anniversary of the 8 May 1945 Massacres, combining commemoration with institutional outreach.
The opening ceremony was held at the Chahid Mohamed Kassab municipal stadium under the supervision of Regional Police Inspector for the East in Constantine, Controller General Abdel Salam Boussouf, and Sétif governor Mustapha Limani, in the presence of civil, judicial, military authorities and representatives of the revolutionary family and civil society.
The two-day programme, running May 6–7, aims to strengthen ties between police services and citizens through exhibitions and interactive stands presenting National Security structures and operational mandates related to public order and asset protection.
The event also includes tactical demonstrations, operational exercises and physical training displays showcasing police readiness and intervention capabilities, alongside the use of modern equipment within the legal framework governing public security and civil liberties.
Authorities also presented digital services designed to streamline administrative procedures and improve public access to police services, alongside awareness campaigns focused on prevention, civic responsibility and security culture.
The DGSN said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to reinforce a proximity-based policing model centred on transparency, engagement and public trust.
