Algeria, UMass Explore Academic Mobility Between Sidi Abdallah and the United States
Higher Education Minister Kamel Baddari receives Algerian physicist Noureddine Melikechi as part of efforts to strengthen technology transfer, innovation and international academic cooperation

ALGIERS — Algeria is exploring plans to establish academic mobility between the scientific and technological schools of the Martyr Abdelhafid Ihaddaden Pole in Sidi Abdallah and the University of Massachusetts (UMass) in the United States, as part of efforts to strengthen technology transfer and develop national scientific capabilities.
Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Kamel Baddari received Algerian physicist and founding member of the High Council of the National Scientific Community Abroad, Professor Noureddine Melikechi, for discussions on ways to strengthen technology transfer in strategic fields and draw on international expertise to support innovation and skills development.
Melikechi, who serves as deputy coordinator of the High Council, also briefed the minister on the council’s initial activities and the implementation of its mandate.
The meeting included the presentation of a working plan to establish academic mobility for professors and students between the scientific and technological schools of Sidi Abdallah and UMass.
The proposed cooperation is intended to strengthen academic exchanges, facilitate access to international expertise and contribute to the development of Algeria’s scientific and technological capabilities.
The initiative reflects Algeria’s efforts to build stronger links between its higher-education institutions and international scientific networks, while using academic cooperation and technology transfer to support innovation and national skills development.
