EXCLUSIVE — CET Tipaza: Tourism Director Abderrahmane Sallouhi Details 2026 Season Plans and Drive to Attract Algerian Families
In an exclusive interview with Dzair Tube, Tipaza tourism chief Abderrahmane Sallouhi details the resort’s summer 2026 preparations, more than 1,000 beds and discounted stays as Algeria seeks to unlock the potential of its Mediterranean tourism assets

TIPAZA, Algeria — Algeria is seeking to give new momentum to domestic tourism by reviving and modernising landmark coastal resorts, with CET Tipaza, a complex dating back to 1969 and associated with architect Fernand Pouillon, emerging as one of the province’s flagship destinations for the 2026 summer season.
In exclusive statements to Dzair Tube, Abderrahmane Sallouhi, Director of Tourism Management in Tipaza, said preparations for the season began in September 2025, with the operator focusing on capacity, services and pricing in an effort to attract Algerian families, holidaymakers and members of the diaspora.
More than 1,000 beds have been prepared at CET, formerly known as the CET tourist village, Sallouhi said, as the operator seeks to make better use of Tipaza’s coastline and tourism infrastructure.
“We focused on supporting domestic tourism by providing all available means and mechanisms,” Sallouhi said, stressing the objective of attracting Algerian families and improving their experience.
A Pouillon legacy meets a new tourism strategy
Opened in 1969, CET forms part of a generation of Algerian tourism infrastructure developed along the Mediterranean coast during the early years of independence.
Its architectural identity is linked to Fernand Pouillon, the French architect whose Algerian projects remain notable for their integration of modern hospitality infrastructure with local architectural references and the surrounding landscape.
The CET complexes in Tipaza — alongside the Golden Horn Resort and Matarès — form part of this distinctive tourism legacy, set against a coastline that also places visitors within reach of the ancient archaeological heritage of Tipaza.
The resort underwent rehabilitation and modernisation works in 2021 and 2022, subsequently reopening with upgraded facilities while retaining elements of its original architectural character.
That combination of heritage and modernisation is increasingly relevant as Algeria seeks to develop domestic tourism while preserving the country’s architectural and cultural assets.
A resort designed around the family experience
CET offers furnished accommodation in configurations ranging from F1 to F4, allowing it to cater to families of different sizes.
The complex provides a broad range of facilities within the resort, including access to the beach, landscaped areas, shops, swimming pools and recreational spaces.
Its swimming facilities are among the resort’s principal summer attractions. The distinctive guitar-shaped pool, capable of accommodating about 150 people, reaches a depth of three metres and includes areas for adults and children.
A larger swimming complex is divided into three sections: a main pool with a depth of 1.5 metres, a children’s pool and a dedicated pool for pregnant women.
From Algerian classics to Mediterranean cuisine
The resort’s hospitality offer also seeks to combine Algerian culinary traditions with international influences.
Its Port Restaurant, which has undergone renovation and modernisation, serves dishes drawing on French, Spanish and Italian cuisine alongside Algerian specialities.
Seafood remains a central part of the menu, with fresh fish and seafood dishes complemented by Spanish paella, which has attracted interest among foreign visitors.
Traditional Algerian dishes including chakhchoukha, chorba and couscous are also offered, alongside salads and appetisers.
Making coastal tourism more accessible
For Sallouhi, however, the strategy extends beyond upgrading facilities.
He stressed the importance of making Tipaza’s tourism infrastructure more accessible to Algerian households, pointing to significant discounts intended to place stays within reach of a broader segment of the domestic market.
He also called on Algerian families and members of the diaspora to visit the province’s tourism complexes, including CET and the Golden Horn Resort, promising a high standard of hospitality.
The emphasis on domestic visitors reflects a broader opportunity for Algeria: a country with a long Mediterranean coastline and substantial cultural and historical assets, but with considerable room to expand the contribution of tourism to the domestic economy.
The tourism management company is simultaneously working on the development of other facilities under its supervision, notably the Golden Horn Resort and Matarès.
The objective is to improve infrastructure and services across Tipaza while strengthening the province’s position as a destination for Algerian families and international visitors.
