Algerian Community in Italy Begins Voting in Legislative Elections

ROME – Members of the Algerian community residing in Italy began casting their ballots on Saturday as overseas voting continued for Algeria’s legislative elections scheduled for 2 July.
According to Roza Aït Saïd, coordinator of the National Independent Election Authority (ANIE) for the eighth overseas electoral constituency (Madrid–Southern Europe), Italy has 7,073 registered voters distributed across the Algerian Embassy in Rome and the Consulates General in Naples and Milan. Five electoral lists are competing for seats allocated to the constituency.
The polling centre at the Algerian Embassy in Rome serves 1,482 registered voters through two polling stations, comprising one fixed station and one mobile station.
The Consulate General in Naples oversees 1,679 registered voters through five polling stations, including two fixed stations and three mobile stations.
Meanwhile, the Consulate General in Milan serves 3,912 registered voters through five polling stations, consisting of one fixed station and four mobile stations, according to ANIE.
To facilitate participation across Italy, the Consulate General in Naples published a detailed voting schedule on its official social media platforms. The permanent polling station at the consulate will remain open throughout the voting period from 27 June to 2 July, while mobile polling stations will operate according to a timetable covering Capaccio Paestum, Aversa, Caserta, Palermo, Vittoria, Messina, Catania, Bari, Barletta, Andria and Trani.
Similarly, the Consulate General in Milan announced the operating schedule for its polling stations. The permanent polling station at the consulate headquarters will remain open throughout the voting period, while mobile polling stations will travel to Rovereto, Brescia, Treviso, Vicenza, Florence, Modena, Turin and Genoa, enabling members of the Algerian community to exercise their voting rights under accessible conditions.
Italy forms part of the eighth overseas electoral constituency, coordinated from Madrid, which covers fourteen countries across Southern and Central Europe, including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria and Türkiye.
Overall, Algeria’s electoral register comprises 24,727,041 voters, including 854,285 members of the national community residing abroad who are eligible to participate in the legislative elections.
