Algerian Red Crescent Organises Thyroid Awareness Day to Promote Early Detection and Prevention

ALGIERS – The Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) organised a thyroid awareness day on Saturday at Garden City Shopping Centre as part of its ongoing efforts to promote public health awareness and encourage the early detection and prevention of disease.
According to a statement issued by the organisation, the initiative included free thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) screening tests for members of the public, with results delivered on-site to facilitate rapid medical assessment.
The awareness campaign also provided medical consultations and scientific guidance on thyroid disorders, including their symptoms, associated risk factors, and the importance of early diagnosis in ensuring timely treatment and reducing the risk of complications.
The Algerian Red Crescent said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen community-based healthcare activities, expand public health awareness programmes, and improve citizens’ access to preventive screening services.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national public health efforts through field-based initiatives designed to promote preventive healthcare and respond to the evolving health needs of the community.
