Former U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin Voices Support for Algeria Ahead of Austria Clash, Tells Dzair Tube: “I’m Here for Algeria… Go the Fennecs”
LAWRENCE, Kansas – Former United States Ambassador to Algeria Elizabeth Moore Aubin expressed strong support for Algeria’s national football team ahead of its match against Austria, telling Dzair Tube that she travelled to Lawrence, Kansas, to cheer on the Greens.
Speaking to Dzair Tube’s correspondent, Aubin said she was fully confident in Algeria’s chances and hoped to see the team secure victory.
“We are here to support the team. They have to win,” she said with a smile while interacting with Algerian supporters gathered in the city ahead of the highly anticipated fixture.
During the friendly exchange, one supporter predicted a 1-0 victory for Algeria. Laughing, Aubin replied that the exact score was of little importance as long as the national team emerged victorious.
“No matter the score. The most important thing is that they win,” she said.
Asked whether she believed Algeria would succeed, the former ambassador expressed complete confidence.
“I’m very confident.”
When invited to deliver a message to the players, Aubin responded warmly:
“I love them all. Go the Fennecs.”
Accompanying her was her husband, wearing the official Algeria national football team jersey, who also expressed his support for the Fennecs, saying that the result mattered less than seeing Algeria emerge victorious.
“The score doesn’t matter,” he told Dzair Tube. “The most important thing is that they win.”
