Fateh Boutbig Says Merit and Integrity Guide Candidate Selection, Reaffirms Respect for Judicial Decisions

Algiers — Fateh Boutbig, president of the El Moustakbal Front party, said the selection of candidates for the upcoming July legislative elections was based on criteria of competence, integrity, and political outreach.
Speaking during an intervention on the programme Parliament Map broadcast by Dzair Tube, Boutbig said the party had prioritised these standards to ensure results that reflect both its organisational base and political ambitions.
He stated that the party would not comment on applicable legal provisions or judicial decisions issued in the name of the Algerian people, stressing its adherence to institutional and legal procedures in handling electoral disputes and candidate-related cases.
Boutbig expressed confidence in Algeria’s broader political trajectory, saying the country was steadily advancing towards the consolidation of stronger state institutions and the reinforcement of the rule of law.
In the same intervention, he said “Algeria of the future does not accept weakness and cannot remain on the margins,” calling for national cohesion in state-building efforts.
He added that political differences were natural, but should not extend to matters of national unity, warning against rhetoric or practices that could undermine cohesion or public trust.
Boutbig described the legislative elections as a “decisive transition between two phases,” framing them as an opportunity to strengthen state institutions and reinforce their role in serving citizens and advancing national development.
