IMF Sees Algeria’s GDP Reaching $317bn in 2026, Retaining Regional Lead

By Dr. Hana Saada

The International Monetary Fund projects Algeria’s gross domestic product will reach $317.17bn in 2026, up from $285.72bn in 2025, with growth estimated at 3.8%, according to its latest published data.

The forecast would position Algeria as the largest economy in the Maghreb and the fourth-largest in Africa in nominal terms, reflecting steady expansion despite a volatile global environment.

On a purchasing power parity basis, Algeria’s GDP is projected at $941.54bn in 2026. The PPP metric adjusts for differences in price levels and cost of living across countries, offering a more comparable measure of economic size and real output capacity than nominal GDP, which is influenced by exchange rate movements.

The outlook underscores Algeria’s relative macroeconomic resilience and its continued weight within both regional and continental economic rankings.
