Psychosocial Support Deployed for Victims of Algerian Tourist Bus Accident in Tunisia
By Dr. Hana Saada
A specialised delegation of psychosociologists has been dispatched to Annaba to support victims injured in a tourist bus accident that occurred on Friday in Medjez El-Bab, Tunisia.
The delegation, operating under the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, visited El Bouni Hospital on Saturday to assess the condition of the injured, who had been transferred to the facility’s surgical emergency unit for treatment.
The deployment follows directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the immediate aftermath of the accident, which involved an Algerian tourist bus and resulted in multiple injuries among Algerian citizens.
According to an official statement, the delegation—comprising specialists and local solidarity support teams—was tasked with ensuring close monitoring of patients’ medical conditions while providing psychosocial assistance during their recovery.
The Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, Soraya Mouloudji, instructed local services to mobilise all necessary human and material resources to guarantee comprehensive care. This includes strengthening psychological support mechanisms through proximity solidarity units, delivering social assistance, and ensuring tailored follow-up for cases requiring sustained attention.
Authorities have also been directed to coordinate closely with local stakeholders and relevant institutions to implement appropriate interventions based on the specific needs of each patient.
The ministry confirmed that support and monitoring efforts will continue until all injured individuals are discharged, ensuring continuity of care and the provision of sustained psychosocial support.
