Ghardaïa Sees Intensified Humanitarian Drive Led by Algerian Red Crescent

The wilaya of Ghardaïa is witnessing sustained humanitarian activity driven by a network of associations and civil initiatives, led by the Algerian Red Crescent, one of the country’s oldest humanitarian organisations, which continues to play a central role in promoting voluntary work and social solidarity.
At the core of these efforts are blood donation campaigns organised in coordination with health institutions and blood transfusion centres, aimed at strengthening national reserves and ensuring timely availability for patients, particularly in emergency cases, according to the Algerian Radio.
At the local level, the Red Crescent’s wilaya committee is also coordinating a broader set of initiatives, including collective iftar meals during Ramadan, distribution of aid and donations, hospital visits, emergency response operations during natural disasters, as well as awareness and social outreach activities targeting different segments of society, according to reporting by GlobGov and El Djazair El Kebir.
These programmes are designed to support vulnerable families and ease social pressures, particularly during periods of heightened need, reflecting a strong culture of solidarity within the local community.
Beyond material assistance, the initiatives also aim to reinforce civic values such as cooperation, mutual aid and volunteerism, with participation from volunteers across different age groups and backgrounds.
In its various campaigns, the Algerian Red Crescent continues to call for broader citizen engagement, framing participation in humanitarian action as a civic and moral responsibility that contributes to saving lives and strengthening social cohesion.
