Algeria Seeks Deeper Export Partnership with Moscow to Boost Non-Hydrocarbon Trade
BY Dr. Hana Saada
Algeria is stepping up efforts to expand non-hydrocarbon exports, with Trade Minister Kamel Rezig holding talks in Algiers with Sergei Cheremin, a senior official from the Moscow city government, to deepen commercial ties.
The meeting focused on scaling up economic cooperation between Algeria and Moscow, with particular emphasis on export promotion and diversifying trade flows beyond hydrocarbons—an area both sides identified as a shared strategic priority.
Discussions also explored partnership opportunities between business communities, notably in higher value-added sectors, alongside potential exchanges of expertise in trade facilitation and logistics services.
Both officials underscored the need to intensify business-to-business engagement through joint economic events and regular forums, aimed at improving market access for Algerian products in Russia.
They reaffirmed their commitment to sustained coordination and closer collaboration, signalling a push to translate political intent into tangible commercial outcomes.
