FAF Refers Petković’s Future to Expert Panel for Assessment
The Algerian Football Federation’s Federal Bureau has referred the evaluation of national team head coach Vladimir Petković to an expert panel, which will assess his record and submit its recommendation on his future.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has referred the future of national team head coach Vladimir Petković to an expert panel following the Federal Bureau’s statutory monthly meeting.
During the session, the Federal Bureau decided to entrust the assessment of Petković’s tenure to a committee of technical experts chaired by former Algeria coach Rabah Saâdane, which will evaluate the national team’s performances and submit its recommendation regarding the Swiss coach’s future.
The panel, composed of Algerian football technicians, has been tasked with reviewing Petković’s overall record, including the team’s recent campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, before determining whether it recommends that he remain in charge or that his tenure come to an end.
Expert Review
The decision follows the Federal Bureau’s review of the national team’s recent performances and places the next stage of the process in the hands of the expert committee.
The panel previously played an advisory role in the appointment of Petković in January 2024, when the federation selected him as the successor to Djamel Belmadi.
The Federal Bureau also adopted several organisational decisions during the meeting, most notably provisionally setting 20 August as the start date for the 2026–27 domestic football season, subject to the federation’s final competition calendar.
