Rezig Opens African Business Forum as 27 Countries Explore AfCFTA Opportunities in Algiers
By Dr. Hana Saada
The fourth edition of the African Business Forum (SADA 2026) opened on Saturday in Algiers, bringing together delegations from 27 African countries to advance trade, investment, and economic integration under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Held from 6 to 8 June at the Higher School of Hospitality and Catering of Algiers (ESHRA) under the theme “Connecting Innovation and Production to African Markets,” the event has attracted business leaders, investors, policymakers, professional organizations, and institutional representatives from across the continent.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig described SADA as an increasingly influential platform for strengthening economic and commercial cooperation among African nations. He noted that the forum has evolved into a strategic instrument for fostering partnerships and facilitating greater interaction between African economic operators.
Rezig emphasized that the theme of this year’s edition reflects a shared continental ambition to build a more integrated African economy capable of transforming its vast human and natural resources into sustainable drivers of growth and development. He stressed that this vision aligns with Algeria’s broader economic strategy under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
According to the minister, Africa’s future prosperity depends on expanding intra-African trade, encouraging productive investment, developing continental value chains, and strengthening partnerships based on mutual benefit. He highlighted Algeria’s ongoing efforts to support national enterprises and facilitate their access to African markets through a range of dedicated programmes and export-promotion mechanisms.
A central focus of the forum is the African Continental Free Trade Area, which Rezig described as one of the continent’s most important strategic economic projects. He noted that the participation of more than 27 countries reflects both the growing stature of the event and the collective determination of African states to deepen economic cooperation and integration.
The forum’s programme features business-to-business meetings, institutional networking sessions, and high-level panel discussions addressing key issues including intra-African trade, AfCFTA implementation, financing, logistics, industrial development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and long-term economic growth prospects across the continent.
In addition to the conference agenda, SADA 2026 includes dedicated exhibition spaces showcasing African products, services, and investment opportunities, alongside matchmaking platforms designed to facilitate commercial partnerships and cross-border business cooperation.
Rezig expressed optimism that the fourth edition of the forum would generate tangible outcomes capable of accelerating Africa’s economic integration agenda and creating new opportunities for investment, trade, and sustainable development throughout the continent.
