Tala Hamza-Amizour Mine Project: Compensation Operations Accelerated in Bejaia
BY Dr. Hana Saada
Bejaia governor Kamel Eddine Karbouche chaired a working meeting on the progress of the Tala Hamza-Amizour lead and zinc mining project, with discussions focusing on accelerating compensation procedures for landowners affected by the development.
During the meeting, the director of regulation and general affairs presented a detailed briefing on the state of compensation operations linked to the strategic mining project.
Following the presentation, the governor instructed all relevant departments — including state property services, regulatory authorities and the public treasury — to strengthen coordination efforts in order to complete compensation procedures within the shortest possible timeframe.
Representatives of SONAREM and the National Enterprise for Non-Ferrous Mining Products and Useful Substances praised the continued support provided by local authorities, particularly the governor of Bejaia, in advancing the project.
They said the Tala Hamza-Amizour project is expected to contribute to the development of Algeria’s mining resources, create new economic opportunities and generate employment for young people in the region.
The representatives also reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring close monitoring of the project in order to guarantee the progress of works in line with established deadlines and technical standards.
