According to a statement issued by Sonelgaz, the Tunisian utility conveyed its gratitude to the Algerian group’s management, executives and employees in recognition of their sustained efforts to supply electricity to Tunisia at a critical time, helping safeguard the continuity of public electricity services.
STEG said the assistance provided by Sonelgaz reflected the enduring spirit of solidarity and fraternity between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Tunisia, while underscoring the depth of the strategic partnership that has long united the two neighbouring countries in the energy sector.
The Tunisian utility noted that the emergency electricity support contributed to mitigating the impact of unprecedented pressure on the national power grid, driven by difficult weather conditions and a sharp increase in electricity consumption during the peak demand period.
