Geneva – Algeria and China have expressed a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the health sector following talks between Health Minister Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene and his Chinese counterpart Li Haichao, held on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in key areas including health technologies, medical training, digital health transformation, medical equipment, disease prevention, and coordination relating to Chinese medical missions operating in Algeria.
Both sides also reviewed ways to enhance joint efforts to strengthen health security and improve preparedness in the face of current and future public health challenges.
According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Health, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest and reaffirm the importance of sustained coordination and knowledge-sharing between the two countries.
The two ministers welcomed the strength of existing health cooperation and reiterated their shared intention to broaden the scope of the partnership in a manner that serves the interests of both peoples and contributes to reinforcing regional and global health security.
