Algeria, Republic of the Congo Seek Deeper Investment Partnership and Stronger Economic Cooperation
Algeria and the Republic of the Congo have agreed to expand investment and economic cooperation, with discussions focusing on new partnership opportunities, priority sectors and Algeria’s investment reforms during a visit by Congo’s minister responsible for international cooperation and public-private partnerships.
ALGIERS — Algeria and the Republic of the Congo are seeking to deepen economic and investment ties as both countries explore new opportunities for business partnerships and regional cooperation.
The discussions took place on Wednesday when Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), received Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, Congo’s Minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships, who is on a working visit to Algeria.
According to the agency, the meeting reviewed prospects for strengthening bilateral investment cooperation, with particular emphasis on opportunities created by Algeria’s new Investment Law and the country’s ongoing efforts to improve its business environment.
Rekkache presented an overview of the agency’s mandate, highlighting recent reforms aimed at facilitating investment, supporting investors and streamlining administrative procedures. He also outlined opportunities across priority sectors, including energy, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mining, agriculture and services.
Both sides stressed the importance of encouraging closer partnerships between Algerian and Congolese businesses as a means of promoting sustainable economic growth and strengthening bilateral economic integration.
For his part, Sassou Nguesso reaffirmed his country’s interest in expanding investment cooperation with Algeria and exploring mutually beneficial partnerships between private-sector operators in both countries.
During his visit, the Congolese minister also toured Algeria’s One-Stop Shop for Major Projects and Foreign Investment, where he was briefed on the institutions represented within the facility and the range of services provided to domestic and international investors.
The meeting reflects Algeria’s broader strategy of strengthening economic engagement with African partners while positioning itself as a regional investment destination through regulatory reforms and enhanced investor support mechanisms.
