Algeria Reviews Strategic Energy Projects and Regional Cooperation with Chad and Niger
Energy Minister Mourad Adjal reviewed strategic projects, cross-border energy cooperation with Chad and Niger, gas transport activities and Algeria’s national energy consumption model, while calling for faster implementation and stricter project monitoring.

ALGIERS — Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review a series of priority files, including strategic energy projects, regional cooperation initiatives and the country’s long-term energy planning.
Held at the ministry’s headquarters, the meeting brought together senior ministry officials and executives from the Sonelgaz Group to assess progress on key projects, evaluate implementation challenges and review measures aimed at ensuring timely delivery of strategic programmes.
Particular attention was given to Algeria’s energy cooperation with Chad and Niger, reflecting the country’s continued efforts to strengthen regional partnerships in the energy sector. The meeting also examined issues related to gas transportation activities as part of broader efforts to enhance the efficiency and reliability of national energy infrastructure.
Officials additionally reviewed Algeria’s national energy consumption model, regarded by the ministry as a strategic planning tool designed to guide future energy policy, improve demand forecasting and promote more efficient energy use.
Technical presentations outlined the progress achieved across the various projects, assessed current implementation levels and identified the principal challenges facing the sector, together with proposed solutions aimed at meeting established deadlines and strategic objectives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Adjal instructed officials to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure the effective implementation of priority projects in line with the sector’s strategic vision and the directives of Algeria’s highest authorities.
He also called for accelerating project execution while applying rigorous standards of management, evaluation and operational efficiency to ensure that planned programmes are completed on schedule and deliver their intended economic and strategic outcomes.
