Algerian Students Win Best Newcomer Award at Formula Student UK 2026

Algerian engineering students from the National Polytechnic School of Algiers won the Allan Staniforth Best Newcomer Award at Formula Student UK 2026 with a locally designed and manufactured race car, earning congratulations from Higher Education Minister Kamel Baddari.

ALGIERS – Algeria’s ENP Racing Team from the National Polytechnic School of Algiers (ENP) has earned international recognition after winning the Allan Staniforth Best Newcomer Award at Formula Student UK 2026, marking a major achievement for Algerian engineering education and innovation.

The award recognizes the best first-time participating team in one of the world’s leading university engineering competitions, where students design, build and compete with their own formula-style racing cars.

The Algerian team entered the competition with a race car entirely designed and manufactured locally, showcasing the technical capabilities and engineering expertise developed by students at the National Polytechnic School.

Baddari Praises Algeria’s Young Innovators

Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Kamel Baddari congratulated the students following their success, describing their achievement as another milestone for Algerian innovation on the international stage.

In a message shared on social media, Baddari praised the team’s accomplishment, telling the students:

“You have once again demonstrated that you are the future of Algeria.”

The minister said the international distinction reflects the quality of Algeria’s higher education system and the growing ability of its students to compete successfully in global engineering and technological competitions.
